Pickleball in Las Vegas (2026): courts, open play, and heat
By My Pickleball Connect Team 22 min read Last reviewed
The center of Las Vegas pickleball is Sunset Park, a 24-court Clark County complex at 2601 East Sunset Road where courts 5 through 24 are open to anyone, free, every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Around it sit about 120 more public courts: 35 in City of Las Vegas parks, 24 more at other Clark County parks, roughly 43 in Henderson (including an 18-court park that opened in October 2025), and 19 in Boulder City. Indoor open play runs most weekday mornings for $2 to $5. From June through August, play early, play late, or play inside.
This guide is built from the valley's official sources: the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, the City of Henderson, North Las Vegas, and Boulder City parks departments, plus their current gym calendars, checked on September 28, 2026. Where an agency does not publish a detail (a fee, lighting, a start time), we say so rather than guess. The heat advice comes from the National Weather Service, the CDC, the National Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Southern Nevada Health District.

Where to play pickleball in Las Vegas, by situation
Most people asking "where can I play pickleball in Las Vegas" want one of five things. Here is the fastest route to each, using only what the agencies publish.
| You want | Go to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The most games, any time of day | Sunset Park Pickleball Complex | 24 courts; courts 5 to 24 open to walk-ups daily 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless reserved, plus a paddle-rack challenge rotation |
| A guaranteed court | Sunset Park reservable courts 13 to 16 and 21 to 24 | Clark County takes bookings at $6 per court per hour; nothing else in the county is reservable |
| Newer dedicated courts in Henderson | Black Mountain Pickleball Park, 599 Greenway Road | 18 courts in a park Henderson opened on October 15, 2025 |
| Indoor play in summer | Paradise Recreation Center, Henderson's Downtown or Silver Springs rec centers, Silver Mesa in North Las Vegas | Indoor open play on weekday mornings, $2 to $5 a visit, free for 55+ at the county centers |
| A game in the northwest | Police Memorial Park (8 courts), Durango Hills Park (7) | The City of Las Vegas's two largest court sets |
Our live Las Vegas court directory and Las Vegas open play schedule carry every facility below with a map, and Henderson now has its own page at Henderson pickleball courts.
How big the valley's public court network is
The Las Vegas Valley is not one city. It is five jurisdictions, each running its own parks, and that is why court information feels scattered. Here is what each agency lists as of September 2026.
| Agency | Public pickleball courts listed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| City of Las Vegas | 35 outdoor, across 8 parks | 24 more under construction at Wayne Bunker Family Park, due early 2027 |
| Clark County (unincorporated valley) | 48 outdoor, across 7 parks | 24 of them at Sunset Park; the only reservable courts in the county system |
| City of Henderson | 30 dedicated outdoor, 13 lined on tennis courts, plus indoor gyms | Black Mountain (18), Montagna (4), Whitney Mesa (4), Blooming Cactus (2), Dundee Jones (2) |
| Boulder City | 19, indoor and outdoor | All multi-use courts; one indoor court by reservation |
| North Las Vegas | Indoor open play at Silver Mesa Recreation Center | No city park page currently lists outdoor pickleball courts |
The City of Las Vegas is blunt about demand. Its January 2026 announcement said the city "currently has 35 pickleball courts that are seemingly always in use," and that the new complex at Wayne Bunker Family Park will add 24 courts, "bringing the total number of public playing areas in the city to 59" (City of Las Vegas). Ground was broken on January 8, 2026, and the project is funded through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, with seating, shade structures, lighting, and restrooms planned.
Henderson has been building fast too. It opened Montagna Park with pickleball courts on May 22, 2024, Blooming Cactus Park on January 16, 2025, and Black Mountain Pickleball Park, its 77th park, on October 15, 2025 (City of Henderson).
Sunset Park: how the valley's hub works
If you only learn one venue, learn this one. Clark County calls it a premier pickleball complex, and its rules are more specific than anywhere else in the valley, so knowing them saves you a wasted trip.
Open play and the challenge courts
Per Clark County, "Courts #5-24 are open to the public seven days a week during the park hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m." (Clark County Parks and Recreation). Courts 5 through 8 are the challenge courts, and the county keeps a paddle rack there: you put your paddle in the rack to claim a spot in line. The county's posted challenge rules say games go to 11, win by 1, and that "Winning partners can stay on the court with a maximum limit of 2 consecutive games" (challenge court rules). That cap is the key detail for newcomers. Even the strongest team rotates off after two wins, so the line moves.
If you are newer or just want steady rallies, skip the challenge courts and look for an open game on the general courts, where groups self-organize. Our guide to open play etiquette covers how to ask into a game without stepping on toes.
Reserving a court
Sunset is the only Clark County site where you can book. The county's rules, quoted from its reservation page (Clark County reservation information):
- "The reservable courts are #13-16, 21-24. The fee is $6/hr per court."
- Reservations are limited to 2 courts and 2 hours, and no more than 6 reservations a month (8 with insurance on file).
- "On the last Wednesday of the current month, we begin booking the following month."
- "Weekend reservations for courts must be made Thursday's before 5pm."
- "No cancellations, changes, credits, nor refunds will be granted for online reservations."
- "If courts are not reserved, they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis."
Put together: for a Saturday morning game with a fixed foursome, book a reservable court by Thursday at 5 p.m. For everything else, walk up.
Round robins and events
The county has run leveled round robins at Sunset (its most recent posted flyer, from 2025, listed a $10 fee and separate start times for under 3.0, 3.0 to 3.5, and 3.5 to 4.0 players). No 2026 dates were posted when we checked, so call the county pickleball office before planning around one. For sanctioned events across the state, see our pickleball tournaments calendar.
City of Las Vegas parks
The city's 35 courts are spread across eight parks, all open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. according to each park's page. The city describes the format as open to all: "Drop in for a pop-up game or sign up to be a part of a league and play in matches" (City of Las Vegas).
| Park | Address | Courts |
|---|---|---|
| Police Memorial Park | 3250 Metro Academy Way, 89129 | 8 |
| Durango Hills Park | 3521 N. Durango Dr., 89129 | 7 |
| Aloha Shores Park | 7550 Sauer St., 89128 | 4 |
| Bill Briare Family Park | 650 N. Tenaya Way, 89128 | 4 |
| Justice Myron E. Leavitt & Jaycee Community Park | 2100 E. St. Louis Ave., 89104 | 4 |
| Lorenzi Park | 3333 W. Washington Ave., 89107 | 4 |
| Centennial Hills Park | 7207 N. Buffalo Dr., 89131 | 2 |
| Patriot Community Park | 4050 Thom Blvd., 89130 | 2 |
Two practical notes. First, city leagues use these courts. The summer 2026 league schedule put evening leagues at Police Memorial, Durango Hills, and Bill Briare from 8 to 10 p.m., at Lorenzi from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday morning leagues at Aloha Shores, Police Memorial, and Bill Briare from 7 to 9 a.m. (city league standings). If you arrive during a league slot, expect courts to be taken. Second, the city's drop-in open play sessions, clinics, and fees live in its online registration catalog, which is linked from the city's pickleball page. That catalog did not display session times to us, so check it directly before you go.
Indoors, the city's Chuck Minker Sports Complex (275 N. Mojave Road) lists pickleball among its programs and says you can drop in and pay per visit. Its hours are Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (City of Las Vegas). Call 702-229-6563 for the current pickleball block and fee.
The Durango Hills YMCA, next to Durango Hills Park, is operated through a public-private partnership with the city, has indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, and says non-members can join with a day pass (YMCA of Southern Nevada).
Henderson: the newest courts in the valley
Henderson publishes a single pickleball page with a court table, which makes it the easiest agency to plan around (City of Henderson pickleball). All Henderson parks are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Dedicated outdoor courts
- Black Mountain Pickleball Park, 599 Greenway Road: 18 courts, the largest dedicated set in the valley after Sunset. It opened October 15, 2025.
- Montagna Park, 3495 Via Altamira (Inspirada): 4 courts, opened May 2024.
- Whitney Mesa: 4 courts per the city table.
- Blooming Cactus Park, 410 Grand Cadence Drive: 2 courts, opened January 2025.
- Dundee Jones Park, 10550 Jeffreys Street: 2 courts beside the dog park.
Lines on tennis courts
Six more parks have pickleball lines painted on tennis courts, 13 courts in all: Mission Hills (3), Aventura (2), Siena Heights Trailhead (2), Sonata (2), Sunridge (2), and Weston Hills (2). Shared courts come with caveats the city spells out. At Mission Hills, "Lines for pickleball are on tennis courts. Players must bring own net" (City of Henderson). The lights at Siena Heights Trailhead are out of service, so it is daylight only, and the Sunridge tennis court lights are under repair. Tennis players have equal claim to shared courts, so the dedicated parks above are the better bet for a full session.
Indoor open play in Henderson
Henderson's September 2026 gym calendars list pickleball at two recreation centers:
- Downtown Recreation Center, 50 Van Wagenen Street: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (September calendar)
- Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway: open pickleball Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a veterans session Wednesday, 8:30 to 11 a.m. (September calendar)
Bring your city Participant ID card; the calendars say staff will ask for it every visit. A recreation center day pass costs $5 for adults and $3 for youth, seniors, and veterans (City of Henderson memberships), and the city notes that "Additional fees may apply for volleyball and pickleball." Non-residents from outside Clark County pay the Henderson rate plus 15 percent (rate structure). Henderson posts a new calendar each month, so recheck in October.
Want a court to yourself? The city says, "Pickleball courts can be reserved for a friendly game of pickleball, a tournament or event by calling the Sports Office at 702-267-5717."
Other Clark County parks
Beyond Sunset, Clark County lists six parks with pickleball, and "All courts are first-come, first-serve and cannot be reserved, apart from Sunset Park" (Clark County pickleball courts).
| Park | Address | Courts |
|---|---|---|
| Hollywood Regional Park | 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd., 89142 | 8 |
| Lone Mountain Regional Park | 4445 N. Jensen St., 89129 | 4 (park closes at 10 p.m.) |
| Oak Leaf Park | 6401 Farness St., 89135 | 4 |
| Bob Price Park | 2100 Bonnie Ln., 89110 | 4 |
| Cougar Creek Park | 6635 W. Cougar Ave., 89139 | 2 |
| Lt. Erik Lloyd Memorial Park | 9665 W. Patrick Ln., 89148 | 2 (striped for tennis and pickleball) |
Most county parks are open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Indoor open play: times and fees
Indoor play is how Las Vegas players get through summer, and it is cheap. Here is every public indoor session we could confirm on an agency's own schedule. Programs pause in summer at some centers, so treat any calendar more than a month old as a reason to call.
| Where | When | Cost | Source status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paradise Recreation Center, 4775 S. McLeod Dr. | Mon to Fri 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.; family pickleball Sat 8 to 11:30 a.m. | $2 a day or $12 a month; ages 55+ free | Clark County Fall 2026 gym schedule, effective August 17, 2026 (Clark County) |
| Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Rd. | Seniors (55+) Mon and Wed 9 to 10:30 a.m.; adults Mon 10:30 a.m. to noon, Wed 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. | Seniors free; adults $2 | County flyer is undated; call 702-455-8334 (Clark County) |
| Downtown Recreation Center, Henderson | Mon to Fri 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Day pass $5 adult, $3 senior or veteran | September 2026 calendar |
| Silver Springs Recreation Center, Henderson | Tue and Thu 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; veterans Wed 8:30 to 11 a.m. | Day pass $5 adult, $3 senior or veteran | September 2026 calendar |
| Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Ln., North Las Vegas | Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | $2 a day or $15 for 3 months; Adult Sports Zone ID required | City of North Las Vegas (North Las Vegas) |
| Boulder City Parks and Recreation Center, 900 Arizona St. | Mon to Fri 8 a.m. to noon; Sat 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Not stated | Boulder City; see October closures below |
One pattern worth knowing: the county's cheapest indoor sessions start early. Paradise opens its courts at 7:30 a.m. on weekdays, and the 55+ crowd plays free. If you work a normal schedule, Saturday family play at Paradise and the paid clubs below are the realistic indoor options.
North Las Vegas and Boulder City
North Las Vegas. The city lists pickleball among its park amenities in general, but none of its individual park pages names a pickleball court, so we cannot point you to a specific outdoor site from official sources. The reliable option is indoor adult pickleball at Silver Mesa Recreation Center (above). Our North Las Vegas courts page lists what players have reported.
Boulder City. Boulder City's pickleball page lists four sites, and all of them are multi-use courts (Boulder City):
- Broadbent Park, 1301 5th Street: 8 outdoor courts, open play first come first served, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
- Veterans Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd.: 4 outdoor courts, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The city says lights for these courts are part of a future Phase 2, so this is daylight play for now.
- ABC Park, 801 Adams Blvd.: 2 outdoor courts (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and 1 indoor court by reservation only.
- Parks and Recreation Center, 900 Arizona Street: 4 indoor courts.
Boulder City's gym calendar matters more than most. In September 2026 there was no pickleball from September 1 to 21 before sessions resumed on September 22 (September calendar), and the October calendar lists no-play dates on October 2, 3, 17, 19, 20, 21, 28, and 29 for events and early voting (October calendar). See our Boulder City courts page for the map.
Clubs and gyms with pickleball
Paid indoor clubs are growing here for the obvious reason. When the Las Vegas Review-Journal covered Summerlin's first indoor pickleball club in July 2026, player Victor Abana explained why he switched: "The weather was too hot when I used to play outdoors" (Las Vegas Review-Journal). A few options, described from each operator's own site:
- The Picklr Henderson, 1450 W. Horizon Ridge Pkwy.: 11 indoor courts. Membership starts at $99 a month, and the site says you can book in advance or walk in for open play (The Picklr).
- Life Time (Green Valley and Summerlin clubs): court time is included with a Signature Membership, and schedules are in the Life Time app (Life Time).
- YMCA of Southern Nevada: Durango Hills and Bill and Lillie Heinrich locations offer pickleball and welcome non-members with a day pass.
We are not ranking clubs here and none of them paid to be listed. Prices change, so confirm on the operator's site.
Playing pickleball in Las Vegas heat
This is the part visitors underestimate. The normal July high at Harry Reid International Airport is 104.5°F, and the record is 120°F, set on July 7, 2024 (National Weather Service). An average year brings 78 days at or above 100°F, including about 26 in July and 25 in August (National Weather Service).
Why desert heat fools you
Las Vegas air is extremely dry. The National Weather Service's climate study puts average afternoon humidity at 11 percent in June (NWS Technical Memorandum WR-271). Sweat evaporates almost as fast as it appears, so your shirt stays drier than it would in Florida while you lose fluid quickly. Dr. Alan Bragman, a chiropractor and IPTPA Level 2 certified pickleball coach, puts a number on it: "Playing in high temperatures and humidity can cause fluid losses of up to 2.5 quarts (2.4 liters) per hour" (Selkirk). The Southern Nevada Health District's local advice is simple: "Don't wait until you are thirsty to drink water" (Southern Nevada Health District).
The court surface is hotter than the air
Pavement in direct desert sun runs far hotter than the air above it. NASA researchers mapping Phoenix found street surfaces 40 to 60°F hotter than the air (NASA JPL). A peer-reviewed study from the Arizona Burn Center found that a 140°F surface can cause a second-degree burn in about 5 seconds of contact (Journal of Burn Care and Research). Hard courts are not the same material as a street, and no one has published measured acrylic court temperatures for Las Vegas, but the takeaway holds: in midsummer afternoon sun, keep hands and knees off the court and don't set bare skin down during a changeover.
A heat plan that follows the experts
- Check the day's HeatRisk. The National Weather Service's HeatRisk map rates each day from green to magenta; at red, the NWS says heat "Affects anyone without cooling/hydration" (NWS HeatRisk).
- Play early or late. The Southern Nevada Health District advises limiting outdoor activity to before noon or the evening. Early is not cool in July, though: on about 47 nights a year the temperature never drops below 80°F (NWS). Sunset Park and most county parks are open until 11 p.m., and the city's own summer leagues run at 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the same reason.
- Acclimatize if you are visiting. The National Athletic Trainers' Association says heat acclimatization takes about 10 to 14 days and fades within about 3 weeks without heat exposure (NATA position statement). A visitor from a cool climate is not acclimatized on day two of a trip, so shorten sessions.
- Drink before, during, and after. Bring more water than you think you need. Our guides to hot weather pickleball and pickleball hydration go deeper on electrolytes and timing.
- Know when to stop. The CDC's instruction for athletes is direct: "If you feel faint or weak, STOP all activity and get to a cool place" (CDC). Confusion, hot red skin without sweat, or a body temperature over 103°F are signs of heat stroke, which is a 911 call.
This is general education, not medical advice. If you have a heart condition, take medication that affects heat tolerance, or feel unwell in the heat, talk to a doctor.
Your ball behaves differently too
USA Pickleball tests balls at about 70°F, plus or minus 5 degrees (USA Pickleball equipment standards), so a 105°F afternoon is well outside the conditions balls are certified in. Selkirk says outdoor balls get softer and livelier in heat and more brittle in cold (Selkirk). In practice, expect more bounce and pace on summer afternoons, and on a cold January morning expect balls to crack sooner.
Wind and sun
Spring is wind season. The National Weather Service ranks April as the windiest month in Las Vegas, with an average wind speed of 10 mph (National Weather Service), and the NWS notes that summer monsoon thunderstorms can bring strong downburst winds. The City of Las Vegas league rules note that "Inclement weather or high winds could cancel games" (City of Las Vegas). When it is windy, our pickleball in the wind guide covers how coaches adjust drops and lobs.
The sun is its own hazard. The valley sits at about 2,000 feet, and the NWS climate study records sunny skies 85 percent of the time (NWS WR-271). The American Academy of Dermatology recommends a water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, reapplied every two hours and right after sweating (American Academy of Dermatology). Glare off light-colored courts is real too; see our pickleball eye protection guide.
When to play, month by month
| Months | Outdoor conditions | Best plan |
|---|---|---|
| November to February | Normal highs from about 57°F (December) to 67°F (November) | Play midday outdoors; balls crack sooner in cold, so bring spares |
| March to May | Normal highs 71°F (March) to 88.5°F (May); April is the windiest month | Outdoor season; check the wind forecast |
| June to September | Normal highs 95°F to 104.5°F; about 75 of the year's 78 days at 100°F or more; monsoon storms typically in July and August | Dawn or after sunset outdoors, or indoor open play |
| October | Normal high 81°F | Prime outdoor month; recheck gym calendars, which change monthly |
